Hickory wood is very dense, hard, and resistant to shock. A member of the pecan family, it exhibits a beautiful visual character and is one of the woods most resistant to wear. Hickory sapwood is white with a brown hue, while the heartwood is several shades darker and can be more reddish. Grain patterns are often straight and the wood has an inherent coarseness and variance in color. All of our hickory finishes are low sheen by default.
